Dear Traders,

First and foremost, I would love to connect with all of you on LinkedIn. I’m always interested in learning more about your professional journey, career experiences, and trading background. Feel free to send me a request so we can stay in touch and grow together.

We are now just three weeks away from our highly anticipated Vancouver Summit and TEDx event on March 29, and I am pleased to share some exciting news with you.

During our discussion in the chat room this morning, we reflected on how retail trading, as a field, has evolved significantly over the past decade. While active trading has existed for many years, access to advanced trading platforms, software, and lower commissions was previously quite limited. Around the time I wrote my first book, we witnessed a major shift with the emergence of discount brokers, reduced trading costs, and improved accessibility, leading to the widespread adoption of retail trading. Today, day trading is the Main Street activity, with more traders participating than ever before.

I recall being an early user of TradingView, which has now grown into a leading platform for charting and financial market visualization. At the time, the founders were based in Coquitlam, British Columbia, and I was in direct communication with them as they developed their product. It is remarkable to see how far the industry has come since then.

However, while trading became more accessible, education remained a significant challenge. Many new traders entered the market with limited guidance on effective trading strategies. This created a need for structured learning, which a few pioneers in the industry sought to address.

Timothy Sykes, one of biggest pioneers of day trading.

One of the individuals who played a role in shaping the trading education space is Timothy Sykes. He is well known for turning a $17,000 college fund into millions through trading, particularly in penny stocks. While our community does not focus on low-float or penny stocks, I recognize the contributions he has made to trading education by providing structure and methodology to retail traders.

I first attended one of Timothy’s presentations at a MoneyShow in New York about five years ago, but we never had the opportunity to meet in person. However, a recent interaction on social media changed that. After posting on X, Timothy reached out to me on Instagram regarding proper attribution for a post. I promptly acknowledged and credited him, and our conversation naturally progressed from there. I expressed my appreciation for his contributions to trading education and philanthropy, and I took the opportunity to invite him to speak at our TEDx event and Bear Bull Traders Summit. I am pleased to announce that he has accepted the invitation.

Timothy is widely recognized for his dynamic and engaging presentation style, and I am certain that his insights will be of great value to our community. Not only will he be one of the keynote speakers at the Summit, but he will also be delivering a TEDx talk. Here is an overview of his presentations:

Talk 1: “Peak Under Pressure: Achieving Maximum Performance in a Volatile World”

This talk will explore how high-pressure environments—whether in the fast-paced world of trading or in everyday life—can be transformed into opportunities for growth. Drawing from his own experience of turning a modest investment into a multi-million-dollar success, Timothy will share practical strategies to enhance focus, develop discipline, and sustain peak performance, even under challenging conditions.

Talk 2: “Resilient by Design: Transforming Setbacks into Stepping Stones”

In this session, Timothy will discuss how setbacks and failures can serve as foundations for future success. He will emphasize the importance of mental resilience and demonstrate how adversity can be leveraged as a learning experience. Attendees will gain practical, actionable techniques to develop a mindset that not only recovers from challenges but thrives in the face of them.

His presence at the event will undoubtedly add significant value, and I encourage all of you to secure your tickets for the Vancouver Summit. This will be an exceptional opportunity to learn from industry leaders and connect with like-minded traders. I look forward to seeing you there.

Meet Timothy Sykes in Vancouver Summit

To Your Success,

Andrew
